Charles T. Farrow, City Marshal
City of Okemah
In late June of 1909, City Marshal Farrow had raided P. T. Thompson’s pool
hall, confiscated all of his illegal “near beer” and arrested Thompson. After
his release from jail Thompson replenished his supply of “near beer” and made
threats against the marshal’s life. About 5 P.M. on Saturday, July 3rd, Marshal
Farrow, 42, went to Thompson’s pool hall. As he entered, Thompson shot at the
unarmed marshal striking him in the stomach. The marshal made his way to a
doctor’s office but died at 4 A.M. the next morning, Sunday, July 4, 1909.
